The family of Willie Mae Gary, 91, of Lake Arthur, announces her passing on December 16, 2023, in the Ochsner American Legion Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.
Mass of funeral services will be held on December 19, 2023, at 2:00 p.m., at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church with Father Jay Alexius officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Miguez Funeral Home in Lake Arthur, beginning at 9:30 a.m. until the time to depart for church.
Burial will take place in Andrus Cove Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Willie was born August 7, 1932, in Lake Arthur, LA, to Maurice Trahan and Clemas Bertrand Trahan. Growing up, she attended school in Lake Arthur and afterwards she married the love of her life, John Russell Gary, Sr. Willie and John Russell later opened and operated “Gary’s Landing” in 1962, which still thrives within the community today. Throughout her life, she drove a school bus for Cameron Parish for many years and was also a Justice of the Peace there as well. At the age of 65, she received her CNA license and worked at Gueydan Guest Home. Willie was a loving and caring mother and grandmother and cherished her family, especially her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memories, are her daughters, Pamela (Gary) Oliver, Ethel (Francis) Benoit, and Barbara Fontenot; sons, Ronald (Jean) Gary and John Russell (Pamela Ann) Gary, Jr.; twelve grandchildren and nineteen great – grandchildren.
She is now rejoicing in heaven with her loving husband of 67 years, John Russell Gary, Sr.; and three grandchildren, Brandon, Christal, and Tannette.
