JENNINGS Graveside services for Mr. William R. Palmer, Jr. 85, will be held at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, August 7, 2010 at the Lorraine Cemetery near Hayes with Rev. Mitchell Gotte officiating. Funeral home visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Friday; and 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m., Saturday, at the funeral home.. Mr. Palmer died at 10:56 p.m., Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at his residence in Roanoke. Mr. Palmer was a native of Baytown, Texas and a resident of Roanoke 50 years moving there from California. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was a retired mechanic in the oil industry. Survivors include his wife, Adeline Moore Palmer of Roanoke; two sons, Donald Ray Palmer of Havelock, North Carolina and David William Palmer of Jacksonville, Florida; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
