It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Sue Mae Dirks, who left us peacefully on November 3, 2025, at the age of 73. Born on June 21, 1952, in Jennings, Louisiana, Sue lived a full and vibrant life, making a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.
Throughout her life, Sue embraced a variety of professions, from a bank teller and substitute teacher to working at the Jefferson Davis Parish Sheriff's Office as a dispatcher and running the Crime Stoppers division. Her passion for education shone brightly as a substitute teacher, where she touched the lives of many students. Her commitment to service reflected her deep love for her community.
A devout follower of Jesus, Sue found joy in her faith and her family. She adored her cats and often found joy in their antics, bringing a smile to her face and warmth to her home.
Friends and family are invited to celebrate Sue's life at Miguez Funeral Home in Jennings, LA. There will be a public viewing starting at 3:30 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday November 5, 2025. The next morning, a public viewing will begin at 8:00 AM, leading to the funeral service at 9:30 AM on November 6, 2025. She will be laid to rest in the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Sue was married to her cherished husband, Woodrow "Woody" Dirks, for an incredible 55 years. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and countless memories. Sue was not just a devoted wife but a fantastic mother to her daughter, Kim Dirks; and was cherished by many extended family and friends.
Sue was preceded in death by her parents, Russell Deshotel and Eula Mae Williams.
