It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Shirley Ann Lopez, aged 89, on January 24, 2026. Born on February 16, 1936, in Jennings, Louisiana, Shirley dedicated her life to her family and home, and her warmth and spirit will be forever cherished by those who knew her.
Shirley was a devoted homemaker, known for her love of cooking and gardening. She found immense joy in creating handmade, hand-stitched quilts for her grandchildren, which will be treasured family heirlooms. Sundays were particularly special to her, as she loved hosting family dinners where laughter and love filled the air. Her passion for the outdoors was matched only by her enjoyment of playing cards with friends, where good times and laughter were always in abundance.
Married for over 30 years, Shirley and her husband, Elroy, shared a deep bond, marked by their love for dancing, camping, and attending family reunions. These memories are precious to her family, who will carry on her legacy of compassion and joy.
Shirley is survived by her daughters, Gwen (Jerry) LaComb and Darla (Mike) Beardmore, as well as her nine grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, who brought her immense pride and joy; and her sister, Brenda Benoit.
A funeral service will be held on January 28, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Miguez Funeral Home in Jennings, Louisiana, with Father Clyde Thomas officiating. A public viewing will be held the same day from 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM, in the funeral home chapel. A rosary will precede the funeral at 12:30 PM. Shirley will be laid to rest following the service in Bertrand Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Shirley Ann Lopez leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion, and her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She will be dearly missed.
Shirley was preceded in death by her loving husband, Elroy Lopez; parents, Raymond and Lula Gotte Doucet; son, Randall Lopez; daughter, Pamela Guillory; grandson, Jonathon Lopez; sister, Esther Ritter; and a son-in-law, Darren Gary.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Lamm Hospice and Jeff Davis Living Center, especially her aid, Robin Freeman, for their love and compassion they have given Mrs. Shirley.
