Shirley Ambrose

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Shirley Kay Ambrose, who left us on January 3, 2026, at the age of 77.

Born on February 28, 1948, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, Shirley spent much of her life dedicated to education and nurturing the minds of students as a beloved teacher for over 20 years in Pineville, LA. She was a cancer survivor and over the past 25 years, she bravely defied the odds while living with a terminal illness, showcasing her biggest strength. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time with her family and loved watching college football. She was a loving, mother, sister, grandmother, and friend that will be dearly missed and her memory will always be near to us.

Shirley is survived by her three wonderful sons: Jeremy (Mary) Ambrose, Joshua (Karen) Ambrose, and Jonathan (Mandy) Ambrose. She also cherished her role as a grandmother to her ten grandchildren, who brought her immense joy and pride; her brother, Dwight Gross; and all those whose lives she touched along her journey.

A graveside service was held in Calvary Cemetery in Jennings, LA, under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Shirley was preceded in death by her husband, John "J.W." Ambrose; and her parents, Harold Gross and Ruby Brown Gross.

Shirley Kay Ambrose will forever remain in our hearts, and her spirit will continue to inspire us all.
