Shelton Ray Breaux, affectionately known as "Grump", a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, peacefully passed away on September 27, 2025, at the age of 76. He was born on July 14, 1949, in Mermentau, Louisiana. Shelton's life was marked by selfless service and unwavering love for his family and community.
Serving as a Marine veteran, Shelton bravely served two tours in Vietnam, where he demonstrated courage and commitment to his country. Upon returning home, he dedicated many years to law enforcement serving with honor as a police officer for the Lake Arthur Police Department and then for the Jennings Police Department with 25 years of service. Shelton was known not only for his steadfast work ethic but also for his kind heart and infectious smile that brightened the lives of those he encountered. Shelton cherished his family above all else and loved spending every second with them. In his spare time, he found solace in fishing, reading, sharing stories, and laughter. He has also been a faithful member of First Baptist Church of Jennings for many years.
He is survived by his loving wife, Vickey Richard Breaux; daughters, Michelle Hebert White and Erica Breaux; son, Bradley (Susan) Breaux. He took great joy in his grandchildren Jared Hebert, Nicholas (Chloe) Lasher, William White, Jaise White, Halia Stegeman, Logan Breaux, and Avery Breaux; his great-granddaughter, Clementine Hebert; his honorary daughters, Karin Mayari Moraga Lacayo and Regina Tercero de Lima, and his honorary grandsons, Christopher and Iker Rivera Moraga. Family gatherings were a source of happiness for Shelton, who relished every moment spent with his loved ones.
Shelton was preceded in death by his mother, Eva Breaux; his son, Christopher Breaux; and his sister, Shirley Perry.
A gathering of family and friends will be held at Miguez Funeral Home in Jennings, Louisiana, on Tuesday September 30, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Wednesday October 1, 2025, starting at 8:00 AM, and will continue until the time of service.
Funeral services will be held in the funeral home chapel at 12:00 PM, on Wednesday October 1, 2025, with Pastor Tim Vanya officiating. He will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Shelton's warmth and compassion touched many lives, bringing joy to everyone he met. He lived life to the fullest, leaving a legacy of love and kindness. In honoring Shelton's remarkable life, we invite all who knew and loved him to join us in celebrating a man who truly embodied compassion, strength, and unwavering love.
