With heavy hearts, the family announces the passing of Sandra Gail Fontenot Landry, 62, who left this world peacefully on July 3, 2026, in her home surrounded by her loving family.
Sandra lived a life filled with love, strength, compassion, and unwavering devotion to her family. She will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, friend, and a woman whose kindness touched everyone fortunate enough to know her.
For 40 wonderful years, Sandra shared a beautiful marriage with the love of her life, Doug. Together they built a family rooted in love, laughter, and cherished memories. Her family was the center of her world, and there was nothing she treasured more than spending time with those she loved. She had a special gift for making everyone feel welcomed, valued, and deeply cared for.
For five years, she fought cancer with incredible strength, determination, and grace. Through every obstacle, she remained an inspiration to her family, friends, and everyone who witnessed her unwavering faith and resilience. Her courage reminded those around her what it means to keep fighting.
One of Sandra's greatest joys was her work at Camelot Brookside Nursing Home in Jennings, Louisiana. It was far more than a job-it was her happy place. She loved caring for others and found genuine fulfillment in serving the residents and building meaningful relationships with them and her coworkers. Her compassionate heart and warm spirit left a lasting impact on countless lives. She really loved to work with her daughter and being in the same place as her mother resides.
Though our hearts are broken by her passing, we are forever grateful for the love she gave so freely, the memories she created, and the example she set. Sandra's legacy of compassion, strength, and unconditional love will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Sandra is survived by her beloved husband, Doug Landry; her two devoted daughters, Vanessa (Cory) Hebert and Jenna (Tyler) Smith; her mother, Daisy Fontenot; her siblings; Carl (Robbie) Fontenot, Carol (Keith) Reed, and Roger (Tammy) Fontenot; sister-in-law, Yvonne Landry and brother-in-law Rod (Cathy) Landry; her cherished grandchildren, Chesney Hebert, Maddox Hebert, Kinsley Hebert, Sawyer Hebert, Stratton Hebert, Bowden Hebert, Emmaline Smith and Eloise Smith; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as a host of relatives and friends whose lives she enriched with her warmth and compassion.
Sandra was preceded in death by her father, Allen Fontenot; and her brother-in-law, Warren Landry.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday July 7, 2026, from 11:30 AM until 4:00 PM, in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel in Jennings, LA. Following the visitation, the family has chosen to honor her wishes of cremation.
