Ronald Lee Derouen

April 30, 1945 — March 12, 2026

Ronald "Ron" Lee DeRouen, 80, of Lake Arthur, LA, finally moved on to his dream shop where he can tinker and create whatever his heart desires, his way.

Despite his stubborn determination to live forever on his own terms, Ron passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side and his fishing pole not far away.

Ron was born on April 30, 1945, in Cameron, LA, to Elwin and Juanita DeRouen. He was the oldest of three children, and he made sure they knew it in his own special way.

Ron was known for his ability to fix anything, solve problems, and sometimes make improvements to other people's bad ideas. Ron had a real talent for forecasting the weather and correcting the weatherman, he knew every secret fishing hole, gave unsolicited views on politics, and absolutely told the best jokes...sometimes twice! It was no secret he loved to wear camouflage, his favorite guilty pleasure was cracklins, and his pure joy was being with his family. Ron's favorite piece of unsolicited advice was, "We are only here for a short visit. Make it count." He sure did!

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Elwin and Juanita DeRouen, and is survived by his loving (and patient) wife, Mona DeRouen; his children, Marc Roberts, Shannon DeRouen, April Jolliff, Dwight DeRouen, Dwayne DeRouen, and Alex Pearce; his siblings, Jackie DeRouen and Wilton DeRouen; and 14 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.

His family will hold a private gathering in celebration of his life and legacy. The family is honoring his wishes of cremation under the Direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
