Funeral services for Mrs. Rita Mae “Pie” Broussard Racca, 95 of Jennings will be held on Monday, February 14, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church with Rev. Keith Pellerin officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Visitation for Mrs. Racca will begin on Sunday, February 13, 2022, at 12 Noon and continue until 6:00 p.m. A rosary by the Catholic Daughters will begin at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will resume Monday, February 14 at 8:00 a.m. and will end at 9:30 a.m. before leaving for church.
Mrs. Racca was born in Jennings on December 30, 1926, to parents Gus and Emma Houssiere Broussard. After her high school graduation, Mrs. Racca embarked on a journey through many careers. Her employment included Piggly Wiggly, Jennings Water Department, Racca’s Master Cleaners and Western Wear (co-owner and alterations), 7-Up and Pepsi Bottling, Evangeline Refinery Co., and Evr-wood.
She was also the owner and proprietor of Racca’s Korner Inc. which included: Pie’s Imports and Gifts, Western Wear, Self-service Gas Station, Snack Shop and Snow Kones, Hot Tamales, South of the Border Meat Pies, Ice Cream Parlor and Pie’s Bakery.
Mrs. Racca included in her spare time, her devotion to Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic and the Ladies Altar Society and meeting and socializing with her friends through the Square Shooters Dance Club and Blue Grass Friends Campers Group.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Jane Racca Sneed of Jennings, and Judy Racca (Dennis) Andrepont of Cypress, TX; Daughters-in-law, Joyce Morgan Racca of Iowa and Donette Woodruff Racca of Spring, TX.
Ten grandchildren, Steve E. (Susan) Racca, Jr; Jennifer (Tim) Kershaw; Chris (Wendi) Racca; Chad Racca; Tammy Sneed (Scotty) Fontenot; Brad (Devin) Racca; Jessica Sneed (Gordon) Olson; Roquee Andrepont Forson; Jeremy (Nicolina) Sneed and Emmy Andrepont (Casey) Durand.
Twenty-nine great grandchildren, Kealy Racca (Michael) Stovall, Abby Racca, David Scott (Payton) Fontenot, Alexandra Dietz, Ashley Dietz, Kerri Beth Racca (Clint) Schaefer, David Kershaw, Spencer Racca, Darren (Erin) Fontenot, Jammi Racca, Zachary Kershaw, Tara Fontenot (Nicholas) Benoit, Grant Racca, Jacob Kershaw, Rylin Racca, Cougar Racca, Ramsie Racca, James Forson, Jeremy Sneed, Jr, Ryder Racca, Brianna Siebarth, Sawyer Olson, George Sneed, Jerry Sneed, Ruby Durand, Archie Durand, Kennedy Olson, Theodore Durand and Evelyn Pie Durand.
Five great great grandchildren, Urijah Duarte, Milah Duarte, Damon Duarte, David Scott Fontenot III, and Mary Claire Schaefer .
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Howard Racca; her parents; two sons, Joseph “Butch” Howard Racca and Stephen Earl Racca and his first wife, Sharon.
The family would like to give special thanks for the care given to their mother at Golden Age of Welsh and the kindness and caring of Heart of Hospice, and Valerie Charles, and Kelli Hines.
Carrying Mrs. Racca to her place of rest will be pallbearers, David Fontenot, David Kershaw, Spencer Racca, Darren Fontenot, Zachary Kershaw, Grant Racca, Jacob Kershaw, and Cougar Racca. Honorary pallbearers are James Forson, Jeremy Sneed, Jr., and Ryder Racca.
Procession of Memories will be presented by Kealy Racca (Michael) Stovall, Abby Racca, Alexandra Dietz, Ashley Dietz, Kerri Beth Racca (Clint) Schaefer, Jammi Racca, Tara Fontenot (Nicholas) Benoit, Rylin Racca, Ramsie Racca, Brianna Siebarth, Sawyer Olson, George Sneed, Jerry Sneed, Ruby Durand, Archie Durand, Kennedy Olsen, Theodore Durand and Evelyn Pie Durand.
