Rickey Dean Landry, affectionately known as "Rookie," passed away peacefully on August 21, 2025, at the age of 65. Born on September 1, 1959, in Jennings, Louisiana, Rickey spent his life dedicated to his family, his work, and his love of the great outdoors.
A beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Rickey cherished time spent with his family, particularly his grandchildren, who brought him immeasurable joy. Rickey was known for his many talents and his deep love for nature. An avid duck hunter and fisherman, he found peace in the stillness of the water and the thrill of the hunt. He also took great pride in tending to his garden and yard, where he found solace and satisfaction in nurturing the beauty of the earth. He spent most of his career as a heavy equipment operator, in which he enjoyed.
He leaves behind his devoted wife, Cindy Landry; his sons, Ryan (Jennifer) Landry and Josh (Michelle) Landry, and his daughter, Candy Benoit. He is also survived by his brother, Anthony (Cheryl) Landry, and sister-in-law, Peggy Landry; his grandchildren, Kolbi, Abbi, Hannah-Claire, Ian, Katelyn, Judson, Dani, Robert Jordan, Jordan, McKenzie and Landon; and his great grandchildren, Dalton, Dax, Ellorie, Micah, Leo, Annie, Audrey, Finley and Grayson; along with many cherished relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Rickey's life and legacy. A gathering of family and friends will be held at Miguez Funeral Home on August 26, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A reflection of Rickey's life will take place at Miguez Funeral Home at 6:00 PM the same day.
Following the visitation, the family has chosen to honor his wishes of cremation under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
In this time of loss, we remember Rickey for the love he shared, the laughter he brought into our lives, and the depth of his character. He will forever live on in our hearts and memories.
Rickey was preceded in death by his parents, Carol Landry and Audrey Landry; son, Jason Benoit; brother, Rocky Landry; Mother and Father-In-Law, Doris and Tedine Doucet; and his fur baby, Paris.
