Richard Dean Abshire

It is with profound sadness that we announce the untimely passing of Richard Dean Abshire, who left this world on July 24, 2026, at the age of 32. Born on February 9, 1994, in Lafayette, Louisiana, Richard resided in Lake Charles, Louisiana, where he built a life filled with love and joy.

Richard was a dedicated superintendent working for Cajun Industries, known for his strong work ethic and commitment to excellence. However, it was his role as a husband and father that he cherished the most. Richard was a loving spouse to his wife, Brittany, and together they created a home filled with laughter, compassion, and cherished moments. He took great joy in spoiling Brittany and ensuring their family was always surrounded by love. As a devoted father, Richard was truly remarkable-he poured his heart and soul into nurturing his children, making sure that they felt valued, supported, and loved every single day.

Richard had a passion for family vacations, creating lasting memories with his loved ones. His warm spirit and infectious laughter will be deeply missed by all who knew him, particularly his family, who were the center of his universe.

Left to cherish their memories of Richard are his beloved wife, Brittany Fruge Abshire; children, Sebastian Abshire and Sawyer Abshire; his brother, Mark Abshire; his sisters, Christina Abshire, Brandy Touchet, Adelia Abshire brother-in-laws, Gage Fruge, Shawn Fruge and Adrian Boyle; sister-in-law, Bethany Beazer; and mother-in-law, Brooke Boyle; godchildren, Annabeth, Deakon, and Avery; and a host of extended family and friends that will always cherish their memories of him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dan Abshire; and a brother, Kirk Bolfa.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday August 1, 2026, at Miguez Funeral Home in Jennings, LA, from 8:30 AM until the time of service. Funeral services will be held on the same day at 12:00 PM, in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel. He will be laid to rest in Abshire Cemetery in Kaplan, LA.
