It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Phyllis Ann Savoie, a beloved wife, mother and mawmaw, who left us peacefully on June 19, 2026, at the age of 73.
She was born on October 5, 1952, in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana. Phyllis was an extraordinary homemaker, known for her delicious cooking and her incredible spirit. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family and friends, especially her cherished grandchildren. Her infectious laughter and radiant smile could light up any room, and she never met a stranger-always eager to make new friends and share stories.
Phyllis also had a zest for life that could be seen in the way she danced like nobody was watching. She enjoyed every moment and filled the lives of those around her with joy. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching her cowboy shows.
Phyllis is survived by her three sons, Jason Ortego, Josh (Jill) Ortego, and Luke (Amy) Ortego; step-sons, Jude Ortego and Karl Ortego; step-daughters, Leah Felger, Lisa Wingate and Lana Taylor; her sister, Alecia Chaisson; her brothers, Richard, Clint, and Scott Huval; and grandchildren, Grant, Chloe, Avery, Nora, Jackson and Claire.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Gussie and Hazel Patin Huval; her husband, Conrad Charles Savoie; her first husband, Herman Ortego; her sister, Josie Delcambre and her brother, Thomas Huval.
A funeral service to celebrate her life will be held on Monday June 22, 2026, at Miguez Funeral Home with the service starting at 2:00 PM. Visitation will begin from 9:30 AM until the time of service in the funeral home chapel. A rosary will be held at 1:00 PM, with Deacon Mike Tramel leading the rosary and all services.
She will be laid to rest in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Evangeline, LA, under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
The family would like to express their deepest appriciation to Lamm Hospice for all the care and love they gave Phyllis.
