Funeral services for Mr. Paul De La Croix, Jr., 96, of Jennings will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021, at 9:30 a.m. at Our Lady Help of Christians with Rev. Keith Pellerin officiating. Burial will follow in the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Visitation will be on Thursday December 16, 2021, from 3:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Friday morning at 8:00 a.m. until the time of service.
Mr. De La Croix passed away on December 14, 2021, in the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home.
Mr. De La Croix was born in Hammond, LA on November 2, 1925, to parents, Paul De La Croix, Sr. and Lydia Beebe De La Croix. He graduated from Menard Memorial High School in Alexandria, LA in 1943. Mr. De La Croix then enlisted in the Navy and served in the South Pacific during WWII. He attended Louisiana Tech as a pitcher on the first ever baseball scholarship offered by the college. “Coach Paul’s” career in education spanned forty years as teacher and coach in Oakdale, LA; teacher, coach, and principal at Jennings High School, and concluded as Secondary Supervisor of Jeff Davis Parish. One of his proudest accomplishments was organizing and serving as president for several years of the Jeff Davis Pachyderm club.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Roma Nell Walker De La Croix; daughters, Cherie (Emery) Dupuis of New Orleans, Denise (Larry) Daigle of Florida, Suzonne (Keith) Bourque of Shreveport, Deidre Macklen of South Carolina; son, Charlie (Jane) De La Croix of Greeley, Colorado; twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Lorita Aplin; and his son in law, Jim Macklen.
In deep appreciation for the loving care of our dad provided by the staff of Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home and LAMM Hospice.
