Mr. Michael J. Jones, 56, died at 3:57 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2019 in Fayetteville, North Carolina.

His wishes were to be cremated. The arrangements are under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings.

Mr. Jones was a native of Lake Arthur. He worked in contract maintenance and was a former derrickman in the oil and gas industry. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Gunners Mate. He was a very gifted artist, loved working with wood and had a very unique handwriting.

His survivors include his wife, Crystal Istre Jones; one daughter, Aundrea Michelle Welch; one son, Julian Welch; step-son, Traves Welch; his mother, Sue Lavergne Pitre; brothers and sisters-in-law Johnny (Emma) Hebert and Daniel (Brenda) Hebert; step-sisters, Pam Leonard and Shelia Purshall; two grandchildren, Carter Levi Welch and Brycen Cade Fontenot; and grandmother, Elza Rohlfs.

He is preceded in death by his step-father, Jerald Pitre.

The family wishes to thank Cindy and Rudy Studer for their compassion and kindness to Michael during his stay in Fayetteville.
