Lucille Guidry

Lucille Morine Guidry, 83, of Jennings, Louisiana, passed away at home surrounded by her loving family on September 1, 2025. Born on January 1, 1942, in Rayne, Louisiana, Lucille was the daughter of Willie and Marie K. Morine.

Lucille was a devoted member of Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Jennings, Louisiana. She spent most of her life in Lake Arthur, where she embraced her role as a homemaker and raised her children in the Catholic and Christian faith. She found joy in her family gatherings, cooking, and celebrating life with her children, grandchildren, and friends.

Lucille loved crafting, sewing, and quilting and was a member of the Community Crafting and Quilting groups with some of her closest friends. She also had a kind and generous heart for animals, often rescuing and caring for pets in need.

She eagerly and lovingly gave of her time for several years by participating in the Annual Veterans Home Christmas Party at Chennault Place in Lake Charles with her daughters. She handmade crocheted hats and scarves and helped donate gift baskets for each veteran living there. Lucille generously offered her time to ensure that she visited and spoke with every veteran who attended the event.

Lucille spent her final days surrounded by her children and her caregivers. She was a joy to her family and to the extended circle of loved ones she gained throughout her life. She was such a blessing.

Those left to cherish her memory her daughters; Geralyn Ann (Matt) Solari of Jennings, Louisiana and Mona Kay (Bryan) Guidry of Maurice, Louisiana, sons; Jeffery Lynn (Tracey) Guidry and Kenneth James (Sherry) Guidry of Lake Arthur, Louisiana. Her grandchildren; Kenton James (April) Guidry, Blake Joseph Guidry, Dane Adam (Shelby) O’Blanc, Jada Renee (Chad) Brockhoeft, Cody Alan (Lacey) Guidry, Hayden John Guidry, and Christian Pearl (Brennan) Guillot. Her great-grandchildren; James, Julie, and Jordyn Guidry, Liesel O’Blanc, and Evie and Evan Brockhoeft; and her niece, Karen (Jack) Peavy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Marie K. Morine; her brothers, Leonard Morine and James Dwight Morine; and her husband, Valrie Guidry Jr.

A memorial Mass will be held Wednesday, September 10, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Our Lady Help of Christians Church in Jennings, Louisiana, with Father Keith Pellerin officiating. Following the service, burial will take place in St. Anthony Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to all who prayed and asked about Lucille during her illness, and especially to her many caregivers and to LAMM Hospice for the exceptional care and comfort they provided throughout the duration of her illness.
