It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Louis Trahan, on May 3, 2025, at the age of 77. Born on January 6, 1948, in Lafayette, Louisiana, Louis lived a life full of love, laughter, and remarkable experiences. He spent many years as a rig manager in the oil and gas industry with 45 years in all in the industry, bringing his dedication and work ethic to every project.
He was a proud veteran who honorably served in the U.S. Army, exemplifying duty and commitment both in service and in life. A fourth-degree knight with the Knights of Columbus, Louis valued faith, community, and his family above all else. He was also a member of the American Legion Post-19 and the Cursillo Rosary, where he formed lasting bonds and friendships.
He is survived by his loving wife, Bernadine Trahan; his daughter, Lisa (Michael) Lantz; and his son, Jeremy Trahan; sister, Pam Lacombe and had an extended family that included his sisters-in-law, Sharon Core and Dianna (Chuck) Abell; and a brother-in-law, Murphy Richard, Jr. He took great joy in being a grandfather to Dylan, Chloe, Taylor, and Grant, and a great-grandfather to Samuel, Lucien, and Renlie. Louis had a remarkable gift for making connections and could turn a stranger into a friend with a warm smile and genuine conversation.
Louis lived life to the fullest, creating memories that will be cherished by all who knew and loved him. His spirit and kindness touched many lives, and he will be deeply missed.
Cremation has been entrusted to Miguez Funeral Home.
The family invites friends and family to gather for a time of remembrance at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church on Friday May 9th, 2025, beginning at 2:00 PM, followed by a Rosary at 2:30 PM and a Mass at 3:00 PM.
A private inurnment will be held in Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
In this time of mourning, we honor a man who knew no stranger and celebrated every moment surrounded by those he cherished most. May he rest in peace.
Louis was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence Trahan and Eva Trahan; and a son, Robert Trahan.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Lafayette General Hospital, Sage Specialty Hospital and Elora Caring and Home Health, for the passionate care and love they gave Louis.
