Lorthy L. Labauve

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lorthy Lonson Labauve, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, who left us peacefully on September 5, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on May 4, 1938, in Crowley, Louisiana, where she filled her home with love and warmth.

Lorthy was known for her deep love of family and friends. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life-whether it was playing cards, rolling dice, or cooking up delicious meals for her loved ones. Her passion for gardening brought beauty to her home, and she took great pride in tending to her flowers.

She is survived by her cherished daughter, Elizabeth "Marie" (Bruce) McGee; her sons, Robert Lee Jardell and Jeffrey (Candy) Jardell; her sisters, Delores Broussard and Rose Fabacher, and her brothers, Calvin (Deanna) Lunson, Carol (Barbara) Lunson, and Gerald Lunson, and her wonderful grandchildren, Ashley (Emilio) Sanchez, Adrianna (Dakota) Negersmith, Aaron Jardell, Chase Jardell, Kourtney Jardell, Abagail (Barkley) Romero, Shelby (Colby) Murphy, Kimberly (Mark) McGee, and Dawn McGee. Lorthy's spirit will live on through the countless memories she created with them.

She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Madison, Alyssa, Marlee, Wyatt, Gracylee, Hudson, Shane, Robin, Taydum, Ghage, Keysen, Ethan, Elena, Jaxson, and Holden, and her four great-great grandchildren, Kamryn, Kailynn, Khaliyah, and Paxton.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Southwind Nursing Home, especially Brandi RN and Memee CNA, as well as the caring teams at Calcutta House and Lafayette General Hospital and her niece Lorrie Fontenot for their kindness and support during her final days.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026, from 3:30 PM until 9:00 PM, at Miguez Funeral Home in Jennings, LA. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM in the chapel. Visitation will resume on Saturday, September 12, 2026, at the funeral home from 8:00 AM until the time of departure at 10:00 AM to St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery. A graveside service will be held at the cemetery with Father Jesuraj Perkmans officiating. She will be laid to rest under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Lorthy was preceded in death by her dear husband, Ivy Labauve, her parents, Prosper and Adela Lonson, and her loving sisters Mary Vincent, Wedda Menard, Lorita LaPoint, Luna Lunson, Laura Jane Lunson, and Ranella Lunson.
