Lawrence "Larry" Kratzer

October 21, 1942 — March 17, 2019

JENNINGS

Lawrence (Larry) Olin Kratzer, 76, died Sunday, March 17, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was born on October 21, 1942, to Lawrence Kratzer Sr. and Peggy (McMillian) Kratzer.

Larry was raised in the Roanoke Louisiana area and was an avid basketball player. While he did not follow the farming tradition of his family, he was passionate about animal husbandry, which was one thing he regretted not pursuing. Larry’s career path took him into banking and accounting, a career with which he was well suited. He knew what a calculator was, but he never had use for one as he could do it all in his head.

Larry was well liked and active in social circles throughout his life. This carried into his final time that he spent at Golden Age of Welsh. It was evident that he was very much loved there and will be missed by many. Specifically, Larry was active in the Knights of Columbus and Lions Club through the years.

Larry is preceded in death by Father (Lawrence Kratzer), Mother (Peggy Kratzer), Brother (Jerry Kratzer). Survivors include his sons and their families; Robert and Melanie Kratzer – Grand Children Laesha and Tanner – Great Grandchildren – Ostin Duncan, Ayden Duncan, Miles Watson, Rowyn Duncan and Sylor Duncan; Roland and Shannon Kratzer – Grand Child Caleb – Great Grand Children – Cailen and Cortlin; Richard Kratzer – Grand Children Dannielle, Michael and Amanda. Also, his Sisters Cindy Breaux and Phayla Kratzer and Brother Craig Kratzer.

A gathering of Larry’s family and friends will be Saturday March 23, 2019 at Miguez Funeral Home in Jennings from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM immediately followed by a short service. From the funeral home everyone will proceed to the Lakeview Cemetery in Lake Arthur for graveside services.
