Funeral services for Mr. Larry L. Dupuis, 74, of Jennings, will be held on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. with his pastor, Rev. Austin Spell officiating. Burial will follow in Mermentau Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will begin on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. and continue until the service time at 2:00 p.m.
Mr. Dupuis was born on October 20, 1947, in Jennings to Voorhies and “Tootsie” LeBlanc Dupuis. In his early years he farmed rice and soybeans. He was in law enforcement for over 30 years, serving in Acadia Parish as a Shift Supervisor and Jefferson Davis Parish as the Chief Deputy for the Sheriff’s office.
Those left behind to cherish his memory are his beloved wife of 57 years, Cynthia Doucet Dupuis; daughter, Leesa (Scott) Sensat of Jennings; son, Brandon (Kayla)Dupuis of Jennings and granddaughters, Brooke, and Blaire Dupuis. He also leaves behind his special cousins, “the LeBlanc Sisters”, who were dear to his heart. He loved his Sonic Family and the lifelong friends he made at the Sheriff’s Office. He was the respected patriarch of the family who were honored to call him Pop.
Larry could often be found viewing the DeWalt tool section, riding a John Deere, waxing his Harley, playing his guitar, and holding a Sonic cup.
Those chosen to serve as pallbearers are Ricky Edwards, Gerard Frey, R.D. Quebodeaux, Christian Spell, Justin Broussard, and Doug Britnell. Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Green and Mike Mouton.
The JDPSO will honor Larry by providing an Honor Guard.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Brighton Bridge Hospice for their excellent care and compassion of our dear Larry.
He was preceded in death by his parents and sister and brother-in-law, LaVelle and Paul Perron, and brother Dalvis R. Dupuis.
