It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Kirby Allen Fitzgerald, who departed this life on April 16, 2026, at the age of 70. Born on April 24, 1955, in Jennings, Louisiana, Kirby lived a life filled with love, hard work, and a deep appreciation for family.
Kirby was a proud graduate of Lake Arthur High School and McNeese University. He dedicated his career to the petroleum industry, retiring from Conoco after 35 years of devoted service as an operator. Known for his strong work ethic, Kirby balanced his professional life with his passions, which included deer hunting-a joy he cherished during his younger years.
Left to cherish their memories of him are his wife, Gail Fitzgerald, with whom he built a life rich in love and companionship. He is also survived by his sister Cheryl David; brother, Matt Fitzgerald; grandchildren, Zoiee Dugas, Kohen Dugas, Jayden Sonnier and Brycen Sonnier; Nieces, Mary Ellen Sweeney and Meaghan Williams, and nephew Scott Fitzgerald; and seven great nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to join in the celebration of Kirby's life. A public viewing will be held on Monday April 20, 2026, at Miguez Funeral Home in Lake Arthur, starting at 9:30 AM. and continue until the time of service. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM the same day with Rev. Craig Davis officiating. Following the service, Kirby will be laid to rest in St. Anthony Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Kirby Allen Fitzgerald will be remembered for his unwavering love, kindness, and the joy he brought to others. May he rest in peace, knowing he was cherished by all who knew him.
Kirby was preceded in death by his parents, Allen Fitzgerald and Anna Mitchell Fitzgerald; step-son, Joseph Dugas; and a nephew, Anthony David.
