Kathryn "Kat" Johnson

Mar 19, 1952 — Jun 17, 2026

Katherine S. Johnson, affectionately known to all as "Kat," passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, at the age of 74.

Kat was a vibrant, outgoing woman who never met a stranger. She cherished spending time with her family and friends, whether she was camping, sitting back with a cold beer while others cooked her a delicious meal, celebrating Mardi Gras, or enjoying a trail ride. Her laughter, warmth, and generous spirit brought joy to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

Family was the center of Kat's world. She loved gathering her loved ones together and creating memories that will be treasured for generations. Her home and heart were always open, and she found her greatest happiness surrounded by those she loved.

Kat is survived by her sisters, Patricia Timmons and Dora Leblanc; her brother, Mickey Sittig; and her daughters, Tina (Billy) Morvant, Sirena (Michael) Morvant, and Silena (Blaine) Johnson.

She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Jared (Ashley) Morvant, Trey (Gabby) Morvant, Stephanie (Kyle) Cornett, Keigan Istre, Kamron (Paige) Istre, Kaitlyn (Jason) Mulkey, Kylee Gary, Dustin Gary, Matthew Gary, Hunter Gary, Hayden Gary, and Kaleb Gary; along with her cherished 16 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life.

Kat was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Rosa Sittig; her ex-husband, Ernest Wayne Johnson; her sister, Henrietta Monceaux; her brother, Ricky Sittig; and her beloved grandson, Corey Johnson.

A public viewing will be held at Miguez Funeral Home, on Friday, June 19, 2026, from 11:00 AM until 4:00 PM. A funeral service to honor her life will take place in the chapel at 4:00 PM with Pastor Clifton LeJeune officiating. The family will be honoring her wishes of cremation following the service under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Though our hearts are heavy with loss, we take comfort in knowing that Kat's legacy of love, laughter, friendship, and family will live on in all who knew her. Her memory will continue to shine brightly through the countless lives she touched.

"Those we love don't go away; they walk beside us every day."
