Judy Ann Abshire

The family of Judy Ann Abshire, 73, announces her passing from this life on September 24, 2026. She leaves behind a life of love, laughter, and a legacy that we will forever cherish.

The family has chosen to honor her wishes of cremation. A gathering of family friends will be held on Monday October 12, 2026, from 10:00 AM until 2:00 PM, at Miguez Funeral Home in Jennings, LA. A funeral service will be held the same day at 2:00 PM. Inurnment will take place following the service in St. Anthony Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Judy was born on April 8, 1953, in Jennings, LA to Ira Melancon and Doris Dugas Melancon and grew up in the Lake Arthur/Gueydan area her whole life. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandkids. She would not dare miss an event that one of her grand children were involved. Outside of her family, her favorite pastime was crafting and what her and her friends referred to as "thrifting".

Her boys called it "junking" but to each their own. She never really was big on vacations, but her and Danny would often load up the truck and head to Canton, Tx, or just roam around east and south Texas hitting every flea market, swap shop, or roadside market they could find. Until they couldn't put anything else in the truck. She was truly a simple woman and truly loved the things that she loved. She will be dearly missed by all the family and friends that knew her.

Left to cherish her legacy are her life partner, Danny Hardee; sons, Todd (Theresa) Abshire and Tobby (Monica) Abshire; her sister, Brenda Cormier; brothers, Wayne (Christy) Melancon and Ricky (Lori) Melancon; grandchildren, Lexie Abshire, Balaur Abshire, Peyton Abshire, Xander Abshire, McKenzie Abshire and Colleen Abshire; great grandchildren, Olivia Abshire and Owen Abshire.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Shona Marie Abshire; and her brother, Jimmie Melancon.
