It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joseph "Ben" Duhon I, who left us on August 20, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on January 4, 1940, in Gueydan, Louisiana, Ben lived life to the fullest and created countless memories that will be cherished forever.
Ben was a Tugboat Captain for 45 years, navigating the waters of the Mississippi River and the Intercoastal Canal. He was passionate about nature and found joy in hunting and cooking, where he often shared his delightful creations with family and friends. A delightful musician at heart, Ben loved playing the harmonica and accordion, and you could regularly hear him sing along to his favorite tunes, filling the air with warmth and laughter.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lillian "Ma" Duhon, and their children: Jo Ann (Richard) Duhon, Roxane (Seward) Pernon, Melanie (Eric) Richard, and Joseph "Goo" Duhon II. He was a proud grandfather to Blanche Chevez, Tina Rivera, Bubba Reyes, Triendy Duhon, Kelsey Perron, Joseph "Trey" Duhon III, Silver Duhon, Paton Trahan, Zack Chevallier, and Sierra LaCour, a loving great-grandfather to 25 great-grandchildren, and a loving brother to Irene (Teddy) Seaton.
