John Debarge

September 22, 1937 — November 27, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Debarge Jr., who left us on November 27, 2025, at the age of 88. John was born on September 22, 1937, in Basile, Louisiana, and spent his life dedicated to his family and community.

John made his mark as a skilled mechanic for the Department of Transportation, where his talent and work ethic were respected by many. He proudly served our country as a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force from January 8, 1964, until January 5, 1968. His love for his country was evident, and he often spoke of the pride he felt during his service.

John was a man of many passions. His first love was always his beloved wife, with whom he shared 65 joyful years with. He found solace in gardening, nurturing plants much like he nurtured his family, and he cherished the time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. John cherished his roles as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and he created a loving legacy that will live on through his family.

He is survived by his daughters, Lisa (Donald) Richard and Tammy (Michael) Duplechin, and his son, John (Amanda) Debarge. His warm spirit will be dearly missed by his four grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren, and his brother, Norman (Thelma) Debarge.

A memorial service will be held in John's honor at the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery on December 3, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Friends and family are invited to join us as we celebrate his life and the impact he had on those around him.

John was preceded in death by his wife Mary Holland Debarge, his parents Johh and Clamauce Pete Debarge, granddaughter, Michelle Abadie, and his sister, Sylvia Perrion.
