It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Joel Kent Lounsberry, who departed this life on November 22, 2025, in his beloved hometown of Gueydan, Louisiana. Born on January 6, 1961, Kent lived a life exemplified by hard work, dedication, and an unwavering love for his family.
Kent was a proud farmer and a fourth-generation steward of the land, passionately tending to his fields, and caring for his family's needs. His deep connection to agriculture was more than an occupation; it was a way of life that brought him joy and fulfillment. He cherished the moments spent outdoors, finding solace and purpose beneath the wide-open skies of Louisiana.
Above all, Kent treasured his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Jamie Lounsberry, and his two daughters, Bethany "Errin" Saltzman and Hillary Dugas; Sons-In-Law, Scott Saltzman and Todd Dugas; and three beautiful and cherished grandchildren, Mila, Sophia and Eli; who have inherited his strength of character and love for the land and family. He is also survived by many extended family and friends.
A memorial gathering of family and friends will take place on Wednesday November 26, 2025, starting at 2:00 PM and will continue until 7:00 PM, at Miguez Funeral Home in Lake Arthur, where memories of Kent will be shared. A Rosary service will be held at 5:30 PM, followed by a Funeral Service at 6:00 PM, with Father Clyde Thomas officiating.
Kent 's legacy will live on in the hearts of those he touched and through the values he instilled in his loved ones. We invite all who knew him to come together to honor his memory, celebrate his life, and find comfort in community during this difficult time.
Kent was preceded in death by his father, Errol Lounsberry; and an Uncle, Ronald Lounsberry.
