Visitation will resume at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday morning, February 24th, and close at 10:30 a.m. for the procession to the church.
Jimmy was born on September 1, 1962, in New Orleans, LA and adopted by Augustine “Gus” Crochet and Hazel Crochet. He was affectionately known as Uncle Jimmy or Jim Bob, and on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, he departed this earthy realm to meet his parents Gus and Hazel and his Heavenly Father. He was such a joy to be around, and he could always bring a smile to anyone’s face regardless of your circumstances. He loved his coffee milk and was very seldom without it. He was always up on the latest gossip around town or whatever was happening on The Young and the Restless. He loved games, especially UNO, but was only happy if he won. He was especially passionate about Java Joltz or Starbucks, and always loved it when “Jannie brought him the good coffee”.
Even though he battled cancer for nine years, he never allowed it to define him. He exemplified what it truly meant to be a fighter, and he was an inspiration to all who knew him. He was always smiling and was one of the kindest people you could ever meet. He would happily fight for the corner piece of the chocolate cake and any leftover icing.
Even though he is no longer with us, we will always carry the impression of his love of life, his joy, his humor, and his gossip, with us. Until we meet again, we will miss you and we are looking forward to hearing the latest gossip again such as if Victor really dies on the Young and the Restless, and if Maw Maw Hazel still has to chase you with a wooden spoon.
We are thankful for the great times we had and the memories we share, and we will never forget you!
Those left to cherish his precious memory are his 26 foster siblings and three biological siblings. A sincere appreciation goes to his sister Jannie Crochet and husband, Milton Crochet, Jr., and sister, Amanda Fisk, for the love and affection they have shown Jimmy over the years and the excellent care they took of him.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
