The family of Mr. Jimmie Rae Fontenot announces his passing on July 13, 2025, in the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home.
Jimmie was born on December 11, 1951, in Eunice, LA, to Nolton Fontenot and Lou Ella Arnaud Fontenot. Jimmie proudly served in the United States Air Force from September 24, 1971, to January 23, 1973, achieving the rank of Airman First Class. His time in service not only shaped him as a person but filled him with deep pride for his country. After his military career, he established himself as an exceptional mechanic, earning numerous awards for his skill and dedication. Those who had the pleasure of knowing him could always count on Jimmie for help and advice, often leaving them awestruck by his mechanical prowess.A true lover of music, Jimmie found joy in the sounds of 70s rock. His encyclopedic knowledge of albums, artists, and musical history made him a go-to source for friends and family alike. Jimmie had a spirit that drew everyone in, and this passion for music was just one of the many facets that made him special.
Left to cherish their memories of Jimmie are his daughter, Marissa McBride and her husband Jeromy; sister, Becky Aucoin; brother, Nolton Fontenot; and his cherished grandchildren, Vivian, Cassia, Abram and Gideon.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Cremation has been entrusted to Miguez Funeral Home.
The family would like to invite family and friends to celebrate Jimmie's life on Friday July 25, 2025, for a graveside ceremony at the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, beginning at 10:00 a.m., with military honors for his dedication to our country.
