Jeff Harden

Some losses are simply hard to put into words. Anyone who knew Jeff understood that he was truly one of a kind.

Jeff faced more hardships in life than most could ever imagine. Despite the many obstacles placed before him, he found his own way to endure and carry on.

My wife and I met Jeff in November 2017. At that time, my daughter Sarah, who was helping people in situations like Jeff's, called to say that a homeless man needed shelter because severe ice storms were expected that night. We gave Jeff a bed on our houseboat so he could safely ride out the weather. Not long after, he was gone again, returning to the life he knew on the streets. A week later, when more icy weather was on the way, I went looking for him and found Mr. Jeff in the woods along the interstate. It was raining, and when I called out, he came. From that moment on, Monica and I took Jeff in and cared for him for the next nine years. During that time, we heard many stories of his life on the road and the many losses he had endured. Among the greatest of those losses was the tragic accident that took both his wife and daughter on the same day, a heartbreak that sent Jeff down a difficult path for many years.

Today, my wife and I left to spend the day at baseball games with our grandchildren. When we returned home, life had changed in a way that words can hardly express.

It is with deep sadness that we share with those who knew Jeff Harden that he has gone on to be reunited with his wife and daughter after so many years apart. We take comfort in believing they are together again as a family.

Jeff will be deeply missed by our family and by all those who came to know and love him as part of our Krewe de Fes family.

Rest easy now, Mr. Jeff Harden. Your travels have ended, and your journey home is complete. May you enjoy eternity with your wife, your daughter, and God. You will always be loved and remembered.

We are honoring Jeff's wishes to be cremated under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
