Jennings
A Funeral Mass for Mrs. Ideline Klumpp Leger will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church with Father Charles McMillin officiating. Burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Visitation will begin on Monday, September 18, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. It will resume Tuesday morning at 8:00 a.m. until 1:30 p.m.
Mrs. Leger was born on January 17, 1936, in Mamou, LA to Jacob Klumpp, Sr. and Agnes Newman. She grew up in Lake Arthur, and was a Lake Arthur High School, graduate of 1954. She and Allen raised their family in Lake Arthur. She and her husband built and operated the “Chatter Box”, a teenage recreation center. Upon moving to Jennings, she was a homemaker, and worked multiple jobs. In the early 80’s, she owned and operated “Creator’s Delight”, where she baked beautiful, delicious cakes and gave cake decorating classes. Many people remember her as the “Cake Lady”. After the death of her husband, she attended Blue Cliff College in Metairie, LA where she received her Massage Therapist degree, graduating in 1992. She then opened her own massage clinic in Jennings.
She was a devoted member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church in Jennings, where she served in the choir and was a eucharist minister. She was involved in the Cursillo movement in Prairie Ronde. Ideline was a very kind and loving woman and she cherished her family deeply, especially all of her grandchildren.
She is survived by her five daughters, Ginger (Charlton) Robertson of Kingwood, TX, Kala (Cody) Martin of Wallis, TX, Peggy Landry of Jennings, Sharon (Tony) Comeaux of Hathaway, Rachael (Matthew) Duhon of Jennings; her son, Allen Dale (Priscilla) Leger of Jennings; a sister, Kristina (Richard) Hill of Perkinston, MS;16 grandchildren, Christopher Robertson, Jason Robertson, Steven Robertson, Courtney Martin Marek, Kelly Martin Ward, Jeremy Leger, Laci Leger Smalley, Jenna Leger Walker, Jacob Landry, Molly Landry Monceaux, Sarah Landry Niland, Bart Comeaux, Amber Comeaux Landry, Chase Comeaux, Jillian Duhon Franklin, Zachary Duhon; 36 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and her dog, Sukie, who is being raised by her sister.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 36 years, Allen Roy Leger; two sisters, Ruth Raggio and Audry Shultz; and two brothers, Jacob “J.C.” and Wilbert “Willie” Klumpp.
Carrying her to her final place of rest, will be her grandchildren, Jason Robertson, Steven Robertson, Chase Comeaux, Jeremy Leger, Jacob Landry, Bart Comeaux and Zachary Duhon.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Jeff Davis Living Center and Heart of Hospice for all the love and care they gave her. You are all truly “Angels on Earth”!
