Glenn Frederick Litteral Jr.

Glenn Frederick Litteral, Jr., 86, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a proud legacy of hard work, quiet strength, and devotion to his home and family. Born in Jennings, Louisiana, on February 10, 1940, Glenn spent his life deeply rooted in Southwest Louisiana agriculture and the Hathaway community.

Glenn answered the call to service by joining the Louisiana National Guard, completing his basic training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina before returning home to serve his state and country. A steward of the soil, he spent his career as a rice and soybean farmer in Jefferson Davis Parish. From early morning weather reports in the dark to the long work of planting and harvest, Glenn embodied the resilient, grounded spirit of the Louisiana prairies-deeply tied to the land he cultivated and the community he built his life within.

Glenn will be warmly remembered for his steadfast character, his devotion to the soil, and the lasting mark he left on the local farming community and the hearts of those who knew him. After retiring from farming in the early 1990s, Glenn discovered a true passion for cooking for his family, and there was rarely a time when a Magnalite pot wasn't simmering with something on the stove. He also spent many happy years traveling North America with Barbara, either in their camper or cruising, with Alaska being a favorite spot. He was known for stopping at farms along his travels, introducing himself to farmers, and inspecting crops along the way. In his later years, he spent his travel time with his children and grandchildren for as long as he was able.

He is survived by his sisters, Judith Litteral Heath of Paducah, KY, and Darla Litteral VanFickell of College Station, TX; his sisters-in-law, Barbara Jean Litteral of Hathaway, LA, and Ellen Kelly (Bob Stocker) of Salida, CO; his children, Lynette Litteral Jensen and Randall Wayne Litteral (Mary), all of Hathaway, and Scott Charles Litteral of San Francisco, CA; and his granddaughters, Loryn Jensen of Copenhagen, Denmark, and Shyla and Autumn Litteral of Elton, LA.

The family extends their deepest gratitude to Anna Hebert for three years of patient, devoted care, unwavering kindness, and for becoming like family to Glenn and those who loved him.

A gathering of friends and family will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2026 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, at Miguez Funeral Home in Jennings, LA. Visitation will resume on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at the funeral home from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM. A funeral service to honor his life and legacy will be held at 10:30 AM with Pastor Robert Hopkins officiating. He will be laid to rest next to his wife in Raymond Methodist Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

He was reunited in eternity with his beloved late wife of 53 years, Barbara Stuckey Litteral, who was there to welcome him home. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Glenn Litteral, Sr. and Izora (Wilkins) Litteral; his brother, Charles Edward Litteral, all of Hathaway; his brother-in-law, John Heath, Sr.; and his parents-in-law, Charles, Jr. and Joyce Stuckey.
