Germaine Marie Kebodeaux passed away peacefully, surrounded by family and prayer, on July 1, 2025, at the age of 66.
Born into a life full of adventure, Germaine spent her childhood living in various places, including overseas in Nigeria. She graduated from Midland High School in 1977 and began a hardworking career that reflected her spirit and resilience. She first worked as a cook, including offshore, before spending the last 18 years as a dedicated slot technician at Coushatta Casino, where she formed lifelong friendships with both guests and co-workers.
Known affectionately as “Germ” or “Jamie,” Germaine was fun-loving, kind, and full of life. She never met a stranger and never passed up an opportunity to dress up for a party and bring a smile to those around her.
Germaine was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt. She cherished time with her family and friends, especially her three grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She had a creative spirit and enjoyed crafting and experimenting with new recipes in the kitchen. Her positive attitude and strength in the face of life’s challenges inspired all who knew her.
She was a woman of deep faith and a prayerful heart. She was a devoted member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Father Kirk Charles Court 1583, and found joy in assisting with the Junior Catholic Daughters as well. Her joyful presence and loving personality will be deeply missed by all who had the blessing of knowing her. She found joy and spiritual strength in participating in the Faith Renewal movement, by attending retreats and sharing her deep faith with others. Her joyful soul, open heart, and willingness to walk with others in their journey made a lasting impact on everyone she encountered.
Germaine is survived by her loving daughter, Christy (Brad) Yates, her cherished grandchildren, Alex (Brittney), Ava, and Andrew Yates; a great grandchild on the way, John-Henry Yates; and her sister-in-law, Vicki Kebodeaux. She also leaves behind a close-knit family of nieces and nephews, including Brandy (John) Dupuis, Heather Kebodeaux, Clifford Brooks, Jr., Tracy (Anthony) Guidry, and Dustin (Karen) Kebodeaux. Each held a special place in her heart, and her spirit will continue to shine through them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Evaelda Kebodeaux; and her siblings, Lena Landry, Michael Kibodeaux, Evalyn Brooks, and Sharon Kebodeaux
