Gerald Max Hobson Sr.

Aug 22, 1934 — Jul 27, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Gerald Max Hobson Sr., aged 91, of Welsh, Louisiana, who departed this life peacefully at home on July 27, 2026. Born on August 22, 1934, in Centerville, Texas, Gerald was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend who touched the lives of many throughout his journey.

Gerald, a proud veteran, served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War, embodying the spirit of service and sacrifice. He later moved to Louisiana in the oil industry before establishing himself as an esteemed entrepreneur in the transportation field, becoming the owner and operator of Hobson's Gulf Service, Hobson Wrecker Service, and J & G Trucking. Known affectionately as "Double Nickle," Gerald was respected in the trucking community for his dedication and hard work.

For over 50 years, he shared a profound and loving partnership with his wife, Jeanie. Together, they built a family filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Gerald had a remarkable love for children and animals, and he found immense joy in spending time with his family and grandchildren, and really loved his time with his great granddaughter, Emery; and the best dog he ever had, April.

In his spare time, Gerald pursued his passions for hunting, fishing, and race cars, creating lasting memories with friends and family alike. His love for life and adventure was matched only by the warmth he showed to those around him.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate his remarkable life at Miguez Funeral Home on Thursday July 30, 2026, from 5:00 PM until 8:30 PM. Visitation will resume on Friday July 31, 2026, from 8:00 AM until the time of service.

Services to honor Gerald's life will be held on Friday July 31, 2026, beginning at 10:00 AM with Brother Jared Thomas officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Southwest Louisiana Veteran's Cemetery with Military Honors, under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Gerald is survived by his loving wife, Jeanie Hobson; his children, Deidra (Kyle) Reed, Karissa (Danny) Hobson, Gerald (Crystal) Hobson Jr., and Melissa (Alvin) Hobson; his grandchildren, Kylie (Christian), Macie, Kegan (Kaylan), Hanna (Blaise), Haley, Trenton, Gage, Beaux, Kaitlyn, Lacie, Brandon; Great Grandchildren, Emery, Autumn, Eden, Oakley, Oliver, Wrenley, Cohen, Karsyn; brother, Curtis Hobson; Sister, Bennie Dale (Fran) Hobson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Hance and Helen Hobson; his brothers, Carl Hobson and Robert Hobson; sisters, Ada Belle Cochran, Juanita Hinson and Margaret Lucas; his son, Gerlad Hobson Jr. "3-3"; a grandson, Cameron Hobson.

Gerald Max Hobson Sr. will be profoundly missed but forever remembered for his loving spirit, steadfast dedication to family, and the joy he brought into the lives of those who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to local animal shelters in honor of Gerald's love for animals.
