Elmo Anthony Romero,Sr.

LAKE ARTHUR Funeral services for Mr. Elmo Anthony Romero, Sr., 81, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 31, 2015 in the Miguez Funeral Home chapel in Lake Arthur with Msgr. Ronald Groth officiating. Burial will be in the Thornwell Cemetery. Funeral home visitation will be from 2:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Friday; and 8:00 a.m. Saturday until time of services. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m. Friday, in the funeral home chapel. Mr. Romero died at 1:40 a.m. Wednesday, October 28, 2015 in the Golden Age Nursing Home of Welsh. Mr. Romero lived most of his life in the Lake Arthur area and was a rice farmer. He loved to garden, crawfish, trap and sit on his swing on the front porch. Survivors include one daughter, Jeanette Poole and husband Warren of Hayes; two sons, Elmo A. Romero, Jr. and wife Elizabeth of Morse, Larry J. Romero and wife Eva of Hayes; four sisters, Grace Bourque and Roberta Comeaux both of Coteau, Audrey Crochet of Loreauville; Gurlie Landry of New Iberia; two brothers, Clifford Brud” Romero of Coteau; Sterling “T-Neg” Romero of Broussard; and five grandchildren, Brandon Poole and wife Denee, Ashley Menard and husband Brandon, Brent Romero and wife Brittany, Raven White and husband Eric and Joni Breaux and husband Larry; and seven great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents Ossie “Pierre” and Elina Fabre Romero and his wife, Gursey Hoffpauir Romero.
