A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church of Lake Arthur, LA at 11:00 a.m. on November 10, 2025, for Mr. Derrell Joseph Feverjean, Sr, 72, of Lake Arthur, Louisiana. He passed away at his home on Thursday, November 6, 2025.
Visitation will be held at Miguez Funeral Home in Lake Arthur, LA on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 2:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a rosary recited at 6:00 p.m. Military Honors will be held before the rosary in honor of his sacrifice to our country.
Visitation will resume on Monday November 10, 2025, at 8:00 a.m. until the time to depart for church at 10:30 a.m. Father Clyde Thomas will be officiating his services and he will be laid to his final resting place at the St. Anthony Cemetery in Lake Arthur, LA., under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
He was born July 21, 1953 in Kaplan, Louisiana to the late Doris and Edlore (Laviolette) Feverjean. Derrell was a proud graduate of the Gueydan High School Class of 1971. In October of 1973, he married his lifelong love, Marilyn Hebert Feverjean of Lake Arthur. One year later, he chose an honorable path, serving his country in the United States Air Force from 1974 to 1978 and was stationed in North Dakota. After serving four years in the military he worked in the Louisiana oil industry as a solids control technician for 33 years until his retirement in 2011.
Through their 52 year marriage, the couple had four sons, Derrell, Jr, Byron James, Michael, Corey, and one daughter, Jaela.
In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his family. He also loved playing cards and spending time with family and friends.
Derrell was an active member and parishioner of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church of Lake Arthur. He took great pride in living a Christian life through his community and spiritual growth. In 1991, Derrell renewed his faith by completing a Catholic Cursillo and has since attended numerous Cursillo rosaries. In his Christian journey, he also attended the True Presences Retreat. Derrell was especially proud of his involvement with the Knights of Columbus serving his local chapter for over 20 years as an honorary member and was named Knight of the Year for Council 3012 in 2016.
Derrell is predeceased by his parents, one brother, Keith Feverjean, mother-in-law Lucille McLean Hebert, father-in-law Joseph Hebert, brother-in-law Joey Hebert, and sister-in-law Barbara Hebert Matt.
He is survived by 5 children, Derrell (Jill) Feverjean, Jr., Byron James "BJ" (Stephanie) Feverjean, Michael "Mikey" (Jamie) Feverjean, Corey (Kelsey) Feverjean, and Jaela Feverjean; his 10 grandchildren, Anna, Alysse, Slade, Maddie, Sophie, Cadence, Joliee, Luke, Olivia, and Dax; and one great grandchild, Brylee.
Pallbearers for Mr. Feverjean will be Derrell Feverjean, Jr., BJ Feverjean, Mikey Feverjean, Corey Feverjean, Wayne Hebert, and Ronnie Hebert. Honorary pallbearers will include Slade Feverjean, Dax Robinson, Luke Guidry, and Clint Feverjean.
