Daniel Miller

July 15, 1943 — January 13, 2026

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Daniel Miller, born July 15, 1943, to Jefford James Miller and Gertie in Kinder LA. Left his earthly dwelling January 13, 2026, resting comfortably in his home and surrounded by his family.

Known to us as Dad, Pop, Pawpaw, Daniel Boone by Darla and our hero by his sons. Dan spent his life between Louisiana and California but always longed for the good old days spent in the California mountains.

It was in California where he found the love of his life, Darla. The two were married for 50 years. After all the years Darla is still the one who could melt his stubborn heart. A true jack of all trades, from driving trucks doing Logging, working in the cement and asbestos plants, to maintenance, landscaping and farming. Daniel worked all his life with a determination and work ethic that all around him appreciated and respected.

Daniel was an avid outdoorsman. Growing up in the Sierra Nevada mountains in California, he learned everything there was to know about hunting, fishing and navigating outdoors with his beloved stepfather Walt. His favorite stories were those about hiking miles upstream to fish and having to backpack out way too much weight in fish all the way home.

A love for the outdoors is a legacy he passed down to his own children who grew up in the same area and learned everything they know from their dad.

Survived by his children Jefford (Michelle) Miller of Jennings, Daniel (Joy) Miller of Roanoke and Micheal Miller of Roanoke, his sister Ruby Hines and brother Henry West, grandchildren Jeffrey Passofaro, Heather Miller, Michelle (Kade) Hebert, Jefford (Dani) Miller, Mitchell Miller, Sandra Passofaro, Dena Miller, Ethan (Rebekah) Miller, Gabby Miller, Trevor Miller, and great grandchildren, Austin, Leon, Jasper, and Chloe.

Preceded in death by his loving wife of 50 years, his parents Jefford Miller, Gertie Cooley and his stepfather Walt West, brothers Lee, James, Leonard, Howard, sister, Sibyl and daughter in-law, Jane Miller.

Cremation has been entrusted to Miguez Funeral Home.
