Cyrus William Tietje, a beloved member of the Roanoke community, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, at the age of 91. Born on October 28, 1934, in Roanoke, Louisiana, Cyrus dedicated his life to the noble fields of agriculture, particularly as a rice and crawfish farmer. He was known for his unwavering faith as a member of the Roanoke Methodist Church, where he also made a hearty impression as a professional pancake maker, serving up smiles and nourishment during the church's annual pancake supper.
Cyrus's passions extended beyond farming; he was an avid deer and duck hunter and an enthusiastic fisherman, always seeking the thrill of the great outdoors. His spirit of adventure and love for nature resonated with all who knew him.
A dedicated family man, Cyrus treasured every moment spent with his loved ones. He is survived by his son, Dennis (Trudy) Tietje; daughter, Linda (Randy) Barnes; and daughter-in-law, Lesley Tietje. His legacy will live on through his cherished grandchildren: Violet Tietje, Michael Barnes, William (Heather) Tietje, Emma (Bob Gordon) Tietje, Donovan (Lauren) Tietje, and Logan Tietje; great grandchildren, Amiell, Eli, Eleanor, Isaiah, Corbin, Elijah, Jack, and Lily; and a great great grandchild, Maysen Johnson.
In recognition of his life well-lived, a public viewing will be held at the Roanoke Methodist Church on Saturday April 4, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 2:00 PM. Following the viewing, a funeral service will be held to celebrate his remarkable life at 2:00 PM, also at the Roanoke Methodist Church, with Rev. Abby Salazar officiating. Interment will follow at 3:00 PM in Oaklawn Cemetery in Welsh, LA.
Cyrus will be dearly missed by his family, friends, and all whose lives he touched with his kindness, faith, and zest for life. May he rest in peace, embraced by the love he so freely gave.
Cyrus was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ollie Tietje; parents, Cyrus Tietje and Lottie Caraway Tietje; son, Robert Tietje; and his sister, Betty Tietje.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests for donations to be made to Roanoke Methodist Church, in honor of Cyrus's life well lived.
