Cyril "Cy" Mehal

Cyril Mehal was called home on August 4, 2026, at the age of 77. Cyril "Cy" Mehal was born in Lafayette, LA, to Joseph and Lucille Mehal.

He graduated from Northside High in 1966. He joined the Air Force after high school. Once he left the military, he discovered his love for horses. Through his passion for horses, he met the love of his life, Jearayne "Jay" Garrett, who loved "his walking away jeans". They married and had three wonderful boys. Cy loved to visit with his family and friends. He could often be found visiting with his siblings and cousins. Cy also highly enjoyed good food.

Cy is survived by his sons, Garrett (Christina) Mehal of Jennings, LA, and Derrick Mehal of San Antonio, TX; his siblings, Becky Fielding and Matt Mehal; his grandchildren, Jordan Mehal and Keira Mehal, both of Jennings, LA; his two brothers-in-law, Paris (Jill) Garrett and Tommie (Stephine) Garrett; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Cy was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jay Mehal; his son, Nathan Mehal; his parents, Joseph and Lucille Mehal; his mother-in-law, Helen Garrett; his sister, Emma Fabacher; and nephew, Luke Fabacher.

Funeral services for Cy Mehal will be held on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. Visitation will begin on Friday, August 7, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will resume on Saturday at 8:00 a.m. until the time of services. After the service, the family is honoring his wishes to be cremated under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings.
