Cora Louise Berry

Jennings Funeral services for Mrs. Cora Louise Benoit Berry, 90 will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 in the Miguez Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Charles McMillin officiating. Burial will be in Bon Pasteur Cemetery in Welsh, LA under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home of Jennings. Mrs. Berry died Thursday, September 24, 2015 at 7:11 P.M. in the Rosewood Nursing Home in Lake Charles. Mrs. Berry was a member of Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church, a native of Welsh , a 1942 graduate of Welsh High and spent many years of her life in Austin, Texas. She worked as a retail sales clerk for Montgomery Ward Co. for most of her life. After retirement she moved back to Jennings and did volunteer work at the Southwest War Veterans Home in Jennings. She enjoyed family gatherings and having friends over for coffee. Her Cajun culture meant the world to her. She is survived by her daughter; Paula Gary of San Antonio, TX, two sons; Paul M. and John Patrick both of Austin, TX., four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Berry is preceded in death by her parents, Dulva and Clemence Miller Benoit, a daughter Melissa Berry and a son, Philip Michael Berry. The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to her niece Brenda and spouse Don Copeland for the loving care they have given her for the past several years. The family would also like to thank the staff at Rosewood Nursing Home for the compassionate care given to Mrs. Berry.
