Carolyn Precht Marks

It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of Carolyn Precht Marks, who passed away on October 27, 2026, at the age of 86. Born on July 9, 1940, in Jennings, LA, Carolyn dedicated over 30 years of her life to teaching, inspiring countless students and helping them achieve their goals. Her passion for education and her genuine love for watching her students grow were what truly lit up her life.

Carolyn was a beloved member of the First United Methodist Church, where she made lasting friendships and served her community with grace. Her family was her world, and she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, Julia and Michael O'Brien.

She leaves behind her daughter Shelley (Chris) O'Brien, her son Roy Edward Marks, her cherished grandchildren, Julia and Michael O'Brien; her loving sisters, Beth (Jimmy) Tilley and Kayla (Gerald) Fournerat. Carolyn is also survived by her sisters-in-law Charleen Precht, Kim Precht, and Linda Precht, all of whom will miss her deeply, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, October 31, 2026, from 8:00 AM until 11:15 AM, at Miguez Funeral Home in Jennings, LA. A funeral service will be held the same day at 11:15 AM with Pastor Abby Salazar officiating. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Marks; parents, Charles Precht and Julia Robertson Precht; sister, Baby Sally Jean Precht; brothers, Charles Dwight "Bucky" Precht Jr., James Howard "Jimmy" Precht, and Thomas Dwaine "Tom" Precht.

In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes memorial donations to the Melissa Doise Foundation or the Jennings Methodist Church in memory of Carolyn Marks.
