Carolyn Ruth Havenar “Carol” April 10, 1939 — September 08, 2025

It is with heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Carolyn Ruth Havenar, who left us peacefully on September 08, 2025, at the age of 86.

Carol was born on April 10, 1939, in Opelousas and grew up in Jennings, Louisiana.

After graduating from high school, she moved to Houston, Texas and continued her career as a Telephone Operator and Service Coordinator at Southwestern Bell – Bell South – AT&T in Houston. She enjoyed therapy sessions with her John Deere tractor, watching football (Houston Oilers loyalist), fishing, cooking her famous meatloaf and cooking her rum balls. She loved sharing stories of times she enjoyed with her favorite baby brother “Stevie” Havenar, and visiting with her family and friends.

Along with her infectious laugh and happy smiles, Carol was very loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Carol is survived by her sibling, James (Steve) Welton Havenar, Jr. and wife Jennie of Lafayette, LA.

Her nieces and nephews: Kenneth Smith Jr. and wife Amanda of Bay City, TX, Kimberlee Smith Dugey and husband Theodore “Trey” of Houston, TX, Karen M. Smith and husband Mustafa Zughaid of Houston, TX, Kristy Smith DeFord and husband Zac of Dickinson, TX, Jennifer Havenar Harrell of Jacksonville, FL, Lauren Blake and husband Gavin of New Orleans, LA, Chris Miranda and wife Jill of Oahu, HI, Kim Donlin and husband Jeremy of Crosby, TX, Greg Harris and wife Gwen of Welsh, LA, Kay Griffin and husband Dan of Metairie, LA, Jerry Wade Havenar and wife Pamela of Fordoche, LA, Richard Havenar (Rook) of Patterson, LA, Craig (Mutt) Havenar of Moss Point, MS, Teresa Havenar of Denham Springs, LA.

Carol was preceded in death by: her parents, James (Steve) Welton Havenar, Sr. & Mayola McCoy Havenar, her siblings: Nora (Sue) Ann Havenar LaCombe, Joyce Zierdt, and Walter (Jerry) Delbert Havenar.

Carol will be laid to rest next to her beloved parents at Raymond Methodist Cemetery, located on Ardoin Road in Hathaway, Louisiana.
