Carl Krielow

March 2, 1954 — January 9, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Carl Joseph Krielow, who left us unexpectedly on January 9, 2026, at the age of 71. Born on March 2, 1954, in Jennings, Louisiana, Carl lived a full life as a devoted farmer who cherished the land and the people who surrounded him.

Carl is survived by his wife, Kathie Krielow; his son, Kendall Krielow; his daughter, Ashlyn (Charles) Sanchez; and his step-son, Santino (Caroline) Giacalone. Additionally, there is no doubt he cherished every moment he spent with his grandchildren: Charlotte Krielow, John Hayes Krielow, Olive Sanchez, Keaton Sanchez, and Parker Sanchez. His family was his greatest treasure.

He was the caring brother to Sue Evans, William (MaryLee) Krielow, Edward (Lenora) Krielow, Deborah (Sammy) Fontenot, Chris (Yvonne) Krielow, Elizabeth Krielow, and Wayne (Elizabeth) Krielow. Each sibling will remember the laughter and love that Carl brought into their lives.

He was a steady, generous, and forgiving man, principled and quiet by nature yet strong in conviction. Throughout his life, he led with purpose, serving in numerous leadership roles within his community, in agriculture, and in business, most recently as a commissioner and President of the Port of Lake Charles. He served not for personal recognition, but to get things done and to do them well. He believed leadership was about integrity, responsibility, and accountability, not attention.

Family was always his highest priority. Having recently retired, he looked forward to spending as much time as possible with his grandchildren. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing, and was fortunate to spend some of his final days doing what he loved most, hunting alongside his grandchildren, Charlotte and John Hayes, at his ranch in West Texas. He also experienced a profound sense of joy and fulfillment with the arrival of his newest grandchild, Olive, only five weeks ago.

He was known for his fair-mindedness, balanced outlook, and quiet assertiveness. One of his favorite sayings, which reflected how he lived his life, was: "Never put off until tomorrow what you can get done today."

In honor of Carl's memory, a public viewing will be held at Miguez Funeral Home on Thursday January 15, 2026, starting at 4:30 PM, followed by a Rosary at 6:00 PM, and concluding at 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Friday January 16, 2026 at 8:00 AM until the time to depart for Mass.Family and friends are invited to gather for a Mass of Christian Burial at Our Lady Help of Christians Catholic Church at 10:00 AM on Friday January 16, 2026. He will be laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.

Carl was preceded in death by his parents Edwin and Maxine Bish Krielow, and his two nieces, Erin Krielow Lahr and Emily Krielow.
