Robert Glenn (Bobby) Watkins was born on February 18, 1937, to Wilbur and Audrey Jones Watkins of Fenton, LA. He passed away on Monday, June 13, 2022, at the Southwest Louisiana Veteran’s Home in Jennings, LA.
Bobby attended elementary and high school in Fenton, then attended college at Texas A&M and McNeese State University. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1963.
On September 1, 1961, he married the former Elizabeth “Libba” McNair of Kinder.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Libba; son, Chet Watkins; daughter, Jill Watkins; granddaughter Madilyn Martin, all of Welsh; two grandsons, John and Alex Bebee and two great grandchildren, Farrah and Grayson BeBee of Fenton. He is also survived by two sisters, Frances Chauvin of Hammond and Jackie Fogleman, both of Crowley; brother, Eddie Watkins of Crowley and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbur and Audrey Watkins.
After being discharged from the Army, Bobby farmed for many years at the family farm in Fenton after which he served as Administrator at the Welsh hospital and Golden Age Nursing Home. In his later years, he operated his own lawn service.
Bobby was a member of Bethel Church in Jennings. He led many Bible services and men’s groups where he shared his great love for his Lord and Savior.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2022, at 2:00 p.m. in Bethel Church with Pastor Michael Tadlock officiating. Visitation will be observed beginning at 12 Noon and continuing until service time. A private burial will be held later.
In accordance with the family wishes, cremation was under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
