Bertha Marie Broussard Thibodeaux, a beloved mother, grandmother, and lifelong resident of Lake Arthur, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2026, at the age of 88. Born on February 6, 1938, Bertha was Salutatorian of the Gueydan High School Class of 1956. She dedicated her life to her family and her faith, spending 70 wonderful years as a homemaker and a devoted member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church as well as a very devoted Catholic Daughter.
Bertha was married to her husband Kenneth Thibodeaux for an incredible 70 years, exemplifying what it means to build a life together. She was not just a caretaker to those in her family but extended that love to everyone she met. As a long-time Mary Kay Director since 1976, Bertha embraced her entrepreneurial spirit while maintaining her passion for serving others. In her free time, she enjoyed bowling, traveling, and hosting family gatherings. Her warmth, generosity, and zest for life touched the hearts of everyone around her.
Bertha leaves behind her loving husband Kenneth Thibodeaux, daughter Alice (Rhett) Guidry; sons Greg (loving late wife Angie) Thibodeaux, Phil (Tammy) Thibodeaux, Jules (Michelle) Thibodeaux, and Kenny (Kim) Thibodeaux; her only brother Leonard (Jenny) Broussard; and numerous grandchildren, including Tasha Thibodeaux, Dustin Thibodeaux, Kristin Thibodeaux, Korey Dugas, Camy Thibodeaux, Philip Thibodeaux, Kendalyn Hebert, Bryce Thibodeaux, Kyle Thibodeaux, Amy Dartez, and many extended great, great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews she cherished so deeply leaving a lasting legacy behind.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Sunday August 30, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, at Miguez Funeral Home in Lake Arthur, LA. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 PM on the same day. Visitation will resume on Monday August 31, 2026, from 8:00 AM until the time depart for Mass at 9:30 AM.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church on Monday August 31, 2026, at 10:00 AM with Father Rolan Vaughn and her cousin, Deacon Scott Broussard officiating her service. She will be laid to rest in St. Anthony Cemetery under the direction of Miguez Funeral Home.
Those carrying her to her final resting place will be Aidan Thibodeaux, Korey Dugas, Philip Thibodeaux, Sleighton Hebert, Bryce Thibodeaux, and Garrett Broussard, and those serving as honorary pallbearers are Baelyr Thibodeaux, Braxton Thibodeaux, and Guy Hebert.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace Broussard and Neomie Broussard, daughter-in-law, Angie Thibodeaux, and her grandparents, Jules F. Broussard Sr. and Amy Reese Broussard.
Following her graveside committal the family would like to invite family and friends to gather at the Oustalet Center in Lake Arthur, LA for a meal and fellowship.
