Funeral services for Ms. Bernice Newman Touchet, 93, will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 17, 2017 in the Miguez Funeral Home with Pastor Blaine St. Germain officiating.

Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery.

Funeral home visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until time of services at 1:00 p.m.

Ms. Touchet died at 11:52 a.m., Tuesday, August 15, 2017, in the Jeff Davis Living Center.

Ms. Touchet was a native of Gueydan and a resident of Jennings since 1942. She was a employee in a pharmacy and she was a member of the Ladies Sunday school class at Bethel Baptist Church.

Survivors include one son, Ronald (Carla) Demeritt of Jennings; one sister, Mildred Crenshaw of Lake Charles; grandchildren, Shawn (Jill) Demeritt, Rachel (Corey) Manuel, Dana Demeritt, Julie Demeritt and Chris Demeritt; great grandchildren, Zac Manuel and Brady Demeritt.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ophie and Rose Istre Newman; her husband, Luther Touchet; son, Cecil Ray Demeritt; sister, Stella Nunez and brothers, Howard and Allen Newman.
