Barbara Louise Smith, born December 13, 1943, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026, at the age of 82.
Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend whose life revolved around family, generosity, and simple joys. She was married to her loving husband, Joseph Smith (Smitty), for 44 cherished years, and together they built a home filled with warmth and care.
A true nurturer, Barbara loved baking for her family and friends, often sharing delicious treats and exchanging favorite recipes with her special friend Linda Roy. She had a keen eye for hidden treasures and found great joy in exploring thrift stores, always finding something special to bring home. In her younger years, she was an avid bowler, actively participating in leagues and enjoying the camaraderie of the sport.
Above all, Barbara's greatest love was her family. She adored her children and grandchildren deeply, ensuring everyone had gifts for Christmas and birthdays, and always putting others first with her selfless, giving spirit. She was a devoted wife who always put others before herself, creating lasting memories through her kindness and thoughtfulness.
Barbara is survived by her husband, Joseph Smith; her sons, Terry Owen (Joan), Steve Owen (Julie) and Brian Smith; her daughters, Shannon Chandler (Wayne) and Kim Thibodeaux (Jason); her siblings Sheryl Jones, Debra Jones, Michael Jones, Belinda Jones, and Donnie Jones; 12 grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents Donald and Eloise Jones; son, Gary Owen; and her sisters and brothers, Douglas Jones, Charlotte Jones, Jimmy Jones and Sheila Jones.
Barbara's legacy lives on in the love she shared, the recipes she passed down, and the joy she brought to every gathering. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Visitation will be held at Miguez Funeral Home on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Corpus Christi Funeral Home, from 9:00 AM until 12:00 PM. She will be buried in Corpus Christi at Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 2:00 PM.
