Anna Guidry, 83, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on March 20, 2026. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, especially for her sweet, squeaky laugh that could light up any room.
She was born on January 22, 1943, in Gueydan, Louisiana, to Alpha & Laura Doucet. Anna was a homemaker in every sense of the word. She lovingly cared for countless children over the years, earning the cherished title of "Mawmaw Anna" not just from her own family, but from so many in the community. She found joy in the little things-drinking her coffee, watching her "stories," waking up early for garage sales, playing bingo, and spending time with family.
She was known for her lively spirit, especially when it came to Bourré card games, where she didn't mind "cheating" a little to keep things interesting with her siblings, Jolene and Betty Jean. Saturday nights were meant for French dancing, and listening to her son-in-law, Ricky, play the accordion, which are memories her family will forever treasure. She married the love of her life, Albert, on August 26th, 1961.
She is survived by her husband, Albert Guidry; daughter, Kim (Ricky) Dodd; son, Aaron (Tamra) Guidry; grandchildren, Colette Gandy, Aaron "Joey" Guidry, Trent Lisenby, Danielle Lisenby Holloway; great-grandchildren, Landon Stroder, Dakota Teele, Haven Teele, and her little girl Rosie Holloway; her siblings, Retia Conner and Louis Doucet; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alpha & Laura Doucet; daughter, Belinda Gandy; sisters, Dora Landry, Doris Doucet, Marie Whitman, Jeanette Doucet and Annabelle Lapointe; and her brothers, Horace Doucet, Slim Doucet and Percey Doucet.
