It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alfred J. Duhon, who left us on November 2, 2026, at the age of 87. Born on April 13, 1939, in Kaplan, Louisiana, Alfred lived a life full of love, service, and sport.
Alfred proudly served in the Army, where his athleticism shone through on the basketball court. He continued to embrace his competitive spirit well into his later years, competing in the Senior Olympics for many years. After his military service, he dedicated over 30 years to the Southern Pacific Railroad as a foreman, a job he took great pride in.
He is survived by his loving wife, Loretta Duhon; his daughter Charmaine Regan; and his son Gregory (Kiisha) Duhon. Alfred was also a proud grandfather to Derek Regan, Claire Regan, and Cole Duhon; his great-grandchildren, Isaac Richard, Elise Richard, and Athena Duhon who brought him immense joy. He is remembered fondly by his sisters-in-law: Barbara Duhon, Germaine Duhon, and Mary Duhon, as well as his numerous nieces and nephews.
Alfred had a passion for sports, especially football, and was a die-hard New Orleans Saints fan. No matter the season, he loved cheering on his teams and sharing that love with everyone around him. He was also a man of great faith, finding strength and comfort in his beliefs throughout his life.
A graveside service will be held in his honor at the Southwest Louisiana Veterans Cemetery on Friday, November 6, 2026, at 11:30 AM with Military Honors. Deacon Mike Tramel will be officiating his graveside service. Friends and family are invited to join us as we celebrate his life and the impact he had on those around him.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Duhon and Elta Hargrave; his grandson, Craig Duhon; and his brothers, Corbett Duhon, Philbert Duhon, Wilbert Duhon, Albert Duhon and Claude Breaux.
The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to all the staff at Southwest Louisiana Veterans Home for the care and compassion they have given him.
Cremation has been entrusted to Miguez Funeral Home.
