A Memorial Mass for Mr. Alex Stanford, 83, will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. in St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Egan with Father Andrew Killeen officiating. A private burial will be held at a later date.  Cremation has been entrusted to Miguez Funeral Home in Jennings.

Mr. Alex Stanford, 83, of Egan, passed away on January 6, 2024, at his residence.

He was born on January 26, 1940, in Egan, LA, to Chester Stanford and Hermilia Campbell Stanford.  He was a high school graduate and served in the Army National Guard.  Alex grew up in Egan and later moved to Ardoin Cove.   He farmed rice and raised cattle on his farm in Welsh for nearly 60 years.  Alex was known as a hard-working man, and a friend to many people.  He was an amazing father to his seven children and a dedicated and devoted husband to his loving wife.

Mr. Stanford is survived by daughters, Colleen, and Candice Stanford, both of Egan; sons, Joel “Travis” Stanford of Welsh, Stephen Stanford of Broussard, Alex “Joey” Stanford, Jr. of Sulphur; sisters, Nettie Clement of Iota and Denise Stanford of Eunice; brother, Perry Stanford of Eunice; grandchildren, Elise, Andrew, Peyton, Terrelle, and Megan Stanford, Alexis Schmidt, Skylar Howze, Arthur Lowry, Dethan Miller, Ean Richard; and great grandchildren, Amalie and Macaida Stanford, Neal Lowry, Julius cooper, Serenidy  and Slayden LeJeune.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Marie Stanford; daughter, Cynthia Stanford; son, Kelsey Stanford, sister, Belva Stanford and brother, Percy Sandford.
